Summer is here! While we'll never complain about gloriously long days and sunny weather, summer does tend to pose one tiny problem for parents of preschoolers.

What do we do with all this extra time?!

While summer camps, creches and sports academies are great, they tend to be aimed at older kids; not to mention expensive if they're done for more than a few weeks. But there's no need to panic! With a tiny bit of inspiration, you'll realise that the best memories are made from the most simple of activities, whether that's baking cookies with Grandma or holding your own sports day with the neighbours.

Check out some of these summer activities that can be done with little to no budget, and see how much fun you can have! 

As parents, germs are not our friend.

We do our best to keep our kids healthy with the right food, sleep and exercise, so naturally we want to try and keep them away from all sources of germs. Unfortunately, toddlers and pre-schoolers don’t follow the same agenda!

Kids, of course, have no knowledge of what surfaces they should touch and what is a no-go zone. They certainly don’t have a clue what the protocol is for keeping their own germs to themselves, as we’ll all know from having our faces sneezed in when bending down to tie a shoelace!

So what can we do as parents to avoid living in a permanent state of snot? Here are some tips:

We all know how important it is to be surrounded by good people as we grow up. Having caring, supportive and encouraging friends going through childhood and beyond makes a huge difference to our development, and as parents, we do all we can to encourage this. While it’s not a great idea to pick your child's friends for them, it is possible to teach them all you can about being a good friend themselves, which in turn will attract the sort of friends they want to have around them.

Aaaah, it's finally the weekend! With so much to pack in during the week, the weekends are prime time to slow down, relax and spend some quality time with your family. However, as you'll know only too well, toddlers and preschoolers don't always see it that way.  Luckily there are always things to do that don't require too much planning or expense to keep young ones entertained. Easter vacation is approaching, and often this means time to hit the road to visit family and friends. Road trips with little ones in the back can sometimes be... interesting!  While we are lucky these days to have iPads, audiobooks and various other distractions, sometimes more interactive entertainment is required. That's where car games come in! Not only are they a great time filler, but they can be a great opportunity for your preschooler to learn while they're sat in one place. Not to mention the great family bonding! Have a go at some of these car games and watch the journey fly by!
