What's on in Redwood City this May

May Themes: Mother’s Day, Germs, Gardening

With Covid-19 things will be a little different at our center. For the time being until the shelter in place is lifted, we will be following CDC guidelines to keep the center and your children safe. In May we are working with the letters M, N, and O. Our numbers for this month are 13, 14, and 15. Lastly, our shapes for May are heart, trapezoid, and Octagon. We introduce these letters, numbers, and shapes in our curriculum by incorporating them into our crafts, adding them into our group discussions, and tracing them with our fingers or pencils. We also review the previous numbers, letters, and shapes every month.

In the beginning of the month we will be painting and creating Mother’s Day Crafts. We will be reading The Night Before Mother’s Day by Natasha Wing.

The second week we will be reading books about planting gardens, keeping germs away, and singing fun songs including the Wash Your Hands song.

During third week of May we will be getting the children outside to learn how to garden and tend to plants. We will teach them what a garden needs to survive. Please bring sunscreen!

The fourth week of May we will review previous letters, numbers, shapes, and the calendar. We will discuss which holidays are celebrated in which months. We will also talk about all cultures and holidays that can be celebrated each month.

If you have any questions or concerns about the new guidelines we will be following please reach out to the director. During these uncertain times we ask that you stay safe and wash your hands!
